The Band
The band consists of the Ortolan, Max Rebo; the Pa’lowick, Sy Snootles; and the Kitonak, Droopy McCool.
They performed in Jabba the Hutt’s palace just before Han Solo’s friends attempted to free him, and later played aboard Jabba’s sail barge over the Great Pit of Carkoon.
The song *Lapti Nek* is the one featured in the original version of Return of the Jedi, while the Special Edition introduced *Jedi Rocks*. For *Lapti Nek*, a version by Urth was released on this vinyl. For the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi, I edited a video featuring this version sung by Joseph Williams, son of John Williams and vocalist for several years of the band Toto.
Kenner 1985 Retailers Catalog – Droids Collection
In the 1985 Kenner retailer catalog, the band set appears for sale in *Droids* series packaging. According to what is mentioned on The Star Wars The Archive Database, no prototypes of this piece are known, even though its presence in the photograph proves that something existed at some point. In this same catalog, a 3PO case also appears with a pastel tone rather than the shiny finish of the Return of the Jedi version.
