Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) – Vintage Star Wars
En una galaxia muy cercana hizo su aparición Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2), una figura que representa al droide astromecánico R2-D2 con una versión propia de su imagen a como aparece en la película original de Star Wars: A New Hope. Corresponde a una de las doce primeras figuras que se promocionaron en el año 1977, considerado dentro de los cuatro enviados por correo a través del Star Wars “Early Bird Certificate” en una caja Kenner, enviado en 1978. Este paquete también incluía un soporte de exhibición de diorama, algunas calcomanías y una tarjeta de membresía del club oficial de fans de Star Wars. Las figuras que lo acompañaban eran Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker y Princess Leia Organa.
La figura en cuestión está bastante bien lograda como juguete, tanto por sus detalles como por el domo metálico y su movimiento. Aunque, rememora a R2 no es parecido al mismo, principalmente por el domo y sus objetos asociados.
Esta figura existió como tal tanto para la colección Star Wars, como para The Empire Strikes Back, hasta el cartón con la parte de atrás de 41 figuras, luego fue reemplazada por la figura con sensorscope. Apareció en las versiones de cartones de Star Wars 12A, 12B, 12C, 12D, 12E, 21A y 21C; y en los cartones de Empire Strikes Back 21G, 31A, 32B y 41A (The Kellerman Book Matrices, rebelscum.com)

In a galaxy far, far away, Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) made his appearance, a figure that represents the astromech droid R2-D2 with its own version of his appearance as seen in the original Star Wars film: A New Hope. It was one of the first twelve figures promoted in 1977, and one of the four sent by mail via the Star Wars “Early Bird Certificate” in a Kenner box, shipped in 1978. This package also included a diorama display stand, some decals, and a membership card to the official Star Wars fan club. The figures accompanying him were Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.
The figure in question is quite well done as a toy, both for its details and for the metal dome and its movement. Although it is reminiscent of R2-D2, it is not the same, mainly due to the dome and its associated accessories.
This figure existed as such for both the Star Wars collection and The Empire Strikes Back, up until the cardboard insert with the back of 41 figures; it was then replaced by the figure with the sensorscope. Ahsoka
