¿Por qué muchos cartones Palitoy tienen cortados sus nombres?
Para la aparición de la segunda entrega de la saga, El Imperio Contraataca, Boba Fett tomó mayor poder como personaje y figura y con ello Palitoy tuvo una campaña para entregar la figura a los niños. Junto con Boba Fett, también se agregó a entregar:
- Dengar, el despiadado cazarrecompensas,
- Un kit de supervivencia
- El case de colección de Darth Vader, con capacidad para 31 figuras.
Luego, la variación de la tarjeta 45A introdujo un tercer grupo de figuras de The Empire Strikes Back (ESB) al catálogo de personajes disponibles. Se identifican ocho figuras de ESB que debutaron en esta tarjeta:
- Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) (con Sensorscope),
- C-3PO (extremidades desmontables),
- Luke Skywalker (equipo de batalla de Hoth),
- Comandante AT-AT,
- Piloto del Cloud Car (Twin-Pod),
- Guardia de seguridad de Bespin (versión piel oscura),
- Piloto de caza TIE imperial,
- 4-LOM.
El anverso de la tarjeta presenta el logotipo de ESB junto con el de Palitoy, idéntico al del modelo 41-back. Sobre el logotipo de Palitoy, destaca un círculo azul con una oferta especial que invita a convertirse en un Star Wars Bounty Hunter, con más detalles en el reverso. Esta es la única tarjeta de Palitoy que incluye un círculo de oferta especial en el frente, a diferencia de Kenner, que utilizó este recurso en varias versiones. Además, la 45A fue la última tarjeta en mostrar el logotipo de Palitoy en su anverso, lo que la convierte en una pieza codiciada por los coleccionistas.
En el reverso de la tarjeta se exhiben las 45 figuras coleccionables junto con información sobre la oferta especial. La sección de promociones se encuentra resaltada con el título ¡Ofertas especiales! en negrita y en letras amarillas. También se menciona el Bounty Hunter Capture Log, un registro de capturas de cazarrecompensas, con una dirección para enviar las solicitudes de las ofertas. A la izquierda de la dirección aparece un símbolo de Boba Fett y un aviso que indica que las ofertas estaban disponibles únicamente para residentes del Reino Unido.
Esta tarjeta fue la última variación fabricada en Hong Kong por Kader Industries o Smile por Palitoy (Far East) Company Ltd, antes de ser enviada ensamblada a la fábrica de Coalville en el Reino Unido. En la parte inferior del reverso de la tarjeta se puede leer claramente Made in Hong Kong.
El símbolo de Boba Fett no sólo aparecía en las tarjetas, sino también en las cajas de vehículos y juegos. Cuanto más grande era el juguete, más símbolos incluía. El AT-AT Walker, por ejemplo, presentaba un total de nueve símbolos. Se cree que estos símbolos estaban destinados a ser recortados para una promoción especial que nunca llegó a realizarse.
El Bounty Hunter Capture Log venía dentro de las cajas de los vehículos más grandes y juegos de la línea o estaba disponible en jugueterías. - El kit de supervivencia requería 4 etiquetas.
- El case de colección de Darth Vader requería 6 etiquetas.
Esta promoción resultó ser muy popular entre los niños, como lo demuestra la gran cantidad de tarjetas supervivientes que presentan el recorte completo de la etiqueta con el nombre, ya sea desde el cartón trasero o desde la parte frontal del empaque.

Later, the variation of the 45A card introduced a third group of The Empire Strikes Back (ESB) figures into the catalog of available characters. Eight ESB figures debuted on this card:
- Artoo‑Detoo (R2‑D2) (with Sensorscope ),
- C‑3PO (removable limbs),
- Luke Skywalker (Hoth battle gear),
- AT‑AT Commander,
- Cloud Car Pilot (Twin‑Pod),
- Bespin Security Guard (dark‑skinned version),
- Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot,
- 4‑LOM.
The front of the card features the ESB logo alongside the Palitoy logo, identical to the 41‑back version. Above the Palitoy logo, a blue circle highlights a special offer inviting fans to become a Star Wars Bounty Hunter, with more details on the reverse. This is the only Palitoy card that includes a special‑offer circle on the front, unlike Kenner, which used this feature across several versions.
Additionally, the 45A was the last card to display the Palitoy logo on its front, making it a highly sought‑after piece among collectors.
The back of the card displays all 45 collectible figures along with information about the special offer. The promotions section is highlighted with the bold yellow title Special Offers! Among the products available through this promotion were once again: Dengar, the ruthless bounty hunter, a survival kit, and the impressive Darth Vader collector’s case (now advertised with a capacity for 32 figures).
The Bounty Hunter Capture Log is also mentioned — a bounty hunter capture record — along with an address for submitting offer requests. To the left of the address appears a Boba Fett symbol and a notice indicating that the offers were available only to residents of the United Kingdom.
This card was the last variation manufactured in Hong Kong by Kader Industries or Smile for Palitoy (Far East) Company Ltd., before being shipped assembled to the Coalville factory in the United Kingdom. At the bottom of the card’s reverse side, the text Made in Hong Kong can be clearly read.
The Boba Fett symbol appeared not only on the cards but also on vehicle and playset boxes. The larger the toy, the more symbols it included. The AT‑AT Walker, for example, featured a total of nine symbols. It is believed that these symbols were intended to be cut out for a special promotion that ultimately never took place.
The Bounty Hunter Capture Log was included inside the boxes of the larger vehicles and playsets in the line, or was available at toy stores. This record explained how the special offers could be redeemed. To participate, buyers had to cut out the figure’s name label from the front of the card and mail it along with the required number of labels and the corresponding payment for shipping and handling.
- Dengar required 3 name labels.
- The survival kit required 4 labels.
- The Darth Vader collector’s case required 6 labels.
This promotion proved to be very popular among children, as shown by the large number of surviving cards with the name label completely cut out — whether from the cardback or from the front of the packaging.
It is believed that all previous Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back (ESB) figures were also available on the 45A card, with the exception of the original versions of R2‑D2 and C‑3PO. Instead, the 45A introduced updated versions of these figures:
- R2‑D2 , with pop‑up Sensorscope ,
- C‑3PO , with removable limbs.
The new R2‑D2 card included the phrase NOW!! WITH SENSORSCOPE just below the name label on the right side.
Additionally, two figures debuted on this card:
